V & K Thanks for you hospitality & congrats on putting together a “Mini Stopover” place, that would leave caraparks for dead. I found it perfect for the big clean undercover, on cement, & all amens. It was not good, it was great. A brilliant move, we need more of these places on the East Coast. Clifton is perfect because of its proximity to T’ba, Ips, Bris, & sunny & G.Coast. Keep building sheds until the cows come home!! (Gardens very pretty). See you next time, All the best, Val PS Enjoy the goodies.

As residents of New Zealand, we have enjoyed many special moments travelling around Australia. From time to time we need to store our vehicles and return home and for several months at a time. But where to leave our beloved rig?

What a joy it was to find Karen and Vaughan at Eastern Downs Storage and Stopover. A first class, secure, storage facility, well located in South Eastern Queensland. We finished up leaving it there for a year as we came and went for several trips but always returned to this wonderful facility and the friendly service and hospitality you dream about. The communication from Karen is excellent and we knew our rig was in good hands. Vaughan undertook repairs on our vehicle and trailer from time to time and he is well qualified and experienced and his workmanship is first class.

Their storage rates are very reasonable and we were sorry to have to move further afield to see more of this wonderful country. I highly recommend their services.

Awesome RV DIY Facility! At long last, we have found that such a place really does exist, and here in Southern Queensland too. You can enjoy working on your prized possession bus or motor home, even in the summer months, and your treasured investment, is protected from any undesirable elements too.

Inside these large, purpose built sheds one has access to power, water, and wonderful smooth floors on which to work, should you need to get under your RV. There is also a workshop that has a comprehensive range of equipment, which one does not normally carry around while travelling fulltime on the road. If you find yourself lacking in any know-how, there is a mine of useful tips and help to be gleaned from the proprietor Vaughan, who runs a motor home/gooseneck manufacturing business.

Once you are finished working on your RV, and have no further need for the protection of the large shed, there are also powered sites for you to rest up at, with water, toilet, shower, laundry, and a dump point. 3G reception is fabulous too.

Within walking distance of the complex are the shops, which include a brilliant hardware store, for all those niggly bits that you didn’t plan for, or forgot to bring with you. The grocery/mini-super store has everything one needs to keep the appetite satisfied during your stay here at this charming little place they call Clifton. There is a variety of other shops and a post office in the main street and there is some wonderful local scenery to enjoy as well. The locals are most helpful and it is definitely an RV friendly town.

Clifton is situated approximately 40kms from Toowoomba and Warwick, just off the New England Highway. Should you need to store your vehicle for short or long term, secure sheds are available at very reasonable rates (While you fly home to see the kids for Christmas).

Letter from Pam and Frank Rhodes

When we planned a 3 months holiday overseas in 2011 a major concern was finding suitable storage for our caravan which, for us, is a valued possession. We wanted it undercover preferably in a locked facility which would be regularly monitored to our own and our insurance company’s standards.

With solar panels which charge batteries to provide power for lights and, through an inverter, home style electrical appliances, the batteries need a constant trickle charge so they don’t go flat even when we are not using the caravan.

I undertook considerable research and found the only facility within several hundred kilometres of our home base that seemed to offer a service that went anywhere near meeting our needs was Eastern Downs Storage and Stopover. The service they provided proved to be outstanding and we will use them exclusively when we need storage in the future.

Karen and Vaughan provided a service that was personal and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Vans are regularly checked and where needed, power is provided to maintain charge in the batteries. They offer to turn on fridges ready for the owners’ return and are open to any further helpful request. . They live on site and regularly and conscientiously monitor caravans in their care.

With Clifton being around 200ks from our home base, the pleasant free stopover with shower, toilet, washing machine and clothes line for use when we delivered our caravan and again when we collected it was gratefully appreciated.

We would be delighted to see Karen and Vaughan receive an award for their outstanding attention to the needs of caravan owners in their establishment and management of Eastern Downs Storage and Stopover. It is a unique and valuable facility that meets a significant need for the caravanning community.

We congratulate Karen and Vaughan on being nominated in the 2012 Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Business Excellence Awards and wish them well. Pam Rhodes for Pam and Frank Rhodes
